Population growth in the summer and fall seasons bring a much larger market to the area. Port Hope contains a large county park area with a sizable campground and several Port Hope homes are summer getaways. Hunting and fishing are major attractions allowing the population increase to last beyond the summer season.

The city of Harbor Beach is only 7 miles south of Port Hope, further expanding it's reach. The surrounding farm land also contains many year round resident families.
