The Community Hub Project is a strategic development that will provide additional resources to the community, add life to vacant properties, and create a permanent home for the Huron County Community Foundation.

Skate Park
In the spring 2023, new skate ramps were installed in the northwest corner of the basketball courts at Bad Axe City Park. Currently, Thumb Allied Skate is continuing to raise funds to expand the skate park to a new area of the park (the old roller hockey rink). Paved Walking Path
The City of Bad Axe has a new walking path with expansion plans on the drawing board. The $200,000 project was completed in 2019. The path is adjacent to the downtown Bad Axe City Park.
The paved, 8-foot-wide walking path makes an eight-tenths of a mile loop just southeast of the park. There are two handicapped parking spots along the service drive off of South Hanselman Street, between the park and the start of the path.
Future walking path plans being discussed include connecting it to the baseball fields, that sit across South Hanselman Street from City Park, and to the Huron County Fairgrounds and the Safe Routes to School Path and the Bad Axe Public Schools campus.
Thumb Area Child Care Coalition
The Thumb Area Child Care Coalition is a group of community leaders working to increase the supply of high-quality and affordable child care in Huron, Sanilac, and Tuscola Counties. Efforts are currently being made to identify community members interest in and knowledge about starting a childcare business in our region.
